Welcome back... and ... GO!!!
This is going to be a great year. I had a great summer break and I am coming back on a mission. I am going to get you to eat right and exercise. All of you. Yes, you too parents. The numbers are telling us we are falling into some bad times, particularly for our kids. Our children, on average will live shorter lives with poorer health. Whah? What century is this? What country am I living in? The statistics and numbers for our population look grim. Lets take a minute.
Insert moment of disbelief here.
Insert moment of outrage here. You may want to be away from small children for this.
Insert some negative words toward Mr. Bowen here.
Insert moment of silence here. Breathe.
OK
We done with that?
Good. Lets do something about this now. We are so much more than numbers. For every digit their lies a person, each of our children in fact, who can grab a hold of their destinies and rise above fatalistic statistics. It is up to us to make it happen though. We can make the changes in our lives. We can use the numbers as a spring board to success instead of a prison of predestination. This is a school built on Efficacy, and as we all know, we are not born smart but get smart. And being smart is not just a bunch of stuff we know, but the values and skills that drive our use of knowledge. Plan, action, results, change plan, and repeat until successful, here we go!
This year in gym, we will be making numbers on our own and using those numbers to become the most physically fit LLACS students in all LLACS history. In Health, we will be creating our own health campaigns, challenging our values about health and our ability to make those healthy choices. For parents, you might find your kids editing your shopping lists, challenging you to physical contests, or incessantly reading labels. There are also going to be homework assignments based on interview questions and discussions with parents/guardians. Also, this website needs your eyes. I welcome, no, I challenge you, to keep our kids healthy by following up with the Family Health Education tab found on the website. Join a discussion. Ask a question. Correct Mr. Bowen. Find a quick healthy recipe. This website is not only a tool for the kids but for parents too. Lets make this year a healthy one and defy the numbers that tell us otherwise.
